Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for hair loss is a treatment that uses the patient's own blood to stimulate hair growth. Here's how it works:
How is PRF used in cosmetic procedures?
PRF is an increasingly popular cosmetic treatment that offer a range of benefits for various aesthetic concerns. PRF is commonly used in cosmetic procedures such as facials, microneedling and hair restoration. Here are some of the most common and unique applications of PRF in cosmetic procedures:
It’s important to note that while PRF and EZ gel are effective treatments for a variety of cosmetic concerns, the best treatment option for each patient will depend on their individual goals, anatomy, and medical history. Patients should consult with a qualified medical professional to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for their needs.
Draw and Preparation: A small amount of the patient's blood is drawn, usually from the arm. This blood is then placed in a centrifuge, which spins it rapidly to separate the different components: red blood cells, white blood cells, plasma, and platelets. The result is a concentrated solution of platelets in plasma, known as PRF.
It's considered a minimally invasive and natural treatment since it uses the patient's own blood. PRF for hair loss is often combined with other treatments at Better Me Med Spa & Wellness Center like microneedling, laser therapy, or medications like minoxidil or finasteride for enhanced results.

Most patients begin to see noticeable improvement after the second or third session, typically around 3 to 6 months into treatment. Hair grows in cycles, so it takes time for new growth to appear. However, results vary, and for some people, full results may take up to a year. Maintenance treatments are usually recommended every 4-6 months to sustain hair growth.
PRF therapy involves multiple small injections into the scalp, which may cause mild discomfort. A topical numbing cream or local anesthesia can be used to minimize any pain. Most people experience little to no downtime, with some minor swelling, redness, or tenderness in the treated areas for a day or two. Most patients can return to their normal activities immediately.
PRF is most effective for people in the early stages of hair thinning or those experiencing mild to moderate hair loss, such as individuals with androgenic alopecia (pattern baldness). It works best when there are still active hair follicles. Those with severe hair loss or completely bald areas may not be ideal candidates. It's also not recommended for individuals with certain medical conditions like blood disorders or those on blood thinners.
