How to Prepare for Your First Botox Appointment

Booking your first Botox appointment is exciting! You’re taking a proactive step toward looking refreshed and feeling confident. To ensure you have the best possible experience and outcome, a little preparation goes a long way. Here’s our guide for first-timers at Better Me Med Spa.

One Week Before Your Appointment

  • Avoid Blood Thinners: To minimize the risk of bruising, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E. (Always consult your doctor before stopping any prescribed medication).
  • Skip Certain Skincare: Pause the use of retinoids, glycolic acid, and other “anti-aging” products that can make your skin more sensitive.

24-48 Hours Before Your Appointment

  • Abstain from Alcohol: Alcohol can thin the blood and increase your chances of bruising. It’s best to avoid it for at least 24 hours before your treatment.
  • Arrive with a Clean Face: Come to your appointment without makeup. If you’re coming from work, we will have cleansers available for you to use.

During Your Consultation

Be prepared to discuss your goals. Do you want a subtle softening of lines or a more dramatic result? Your injector will analyze your facial muscles and create a custom treatment plan. This is also the time to ask questions about other treatments you may be interested in, such as dermal fillers.

Post-Treatment Care

After your injections, follow these simple rules for the best results:

  • Don’t rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours.
  • Stay upright for at least 4 hours after treatment.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.
